As Filmmaker
Avinash has made his mark as one of India’s renowned short filmmakers – with hundreds of short films on different social and other issues to his credit. Some of his outstanding achievements in the field of Indian Cinema include Bagged more than 40 awards for his films based on social awareness and other important issues- Created the short film ‘No smoking’, and the docu-fiction“Ab Bas’. Taught scriptwriting and filmmaking at Amity University Currently writing films for famous production companies and corporates in India. Written web series also which will be shot soon- Jury member and advisor in several international and National Film Festivals. The founder-director of the International Art, Culture, and Cinema Festival.
Writer/Lyricist
A renowned Indian poet, lyricist, and songwriter, Avinash has composed soulful lyrics for some of the Indian film industry’s leading music composers and
producers.
Avinash’s poems and ghazals have been published in leading national dailies.
He is a regular face in Kavi sammelans and mushairas too.
Avinash has written more than 18 songs for noted composer Abhishek Ray who has collaborated with Gulzar Saab on several projects, and composed films like Welcome Back, Pan Singh Tomar, Sahib, Biwi, and Gangster, Haasil among others. Legendary singers such as Kavita Krishnamurti and Shaan have lent their voices to Avinash’s lyrics.
Current singing stars such as Anwesshaa, Anupama Raag, and Aaria are singing Avinash’s songs.
Journalist
Avinash’s journalistic and communication journey is dotted with landmarks and achievements, some of which are shared below:- Participated in over 300 TV debates on socio-cultural issues. Started his career as a theatre actor-director with India’s leading theatre group IPTA – Became a news anchor with Doordarshan- Went on to produce and direct popular TV programs such as ‘Drishti’ for Doordarshan. Worked as the bureau chief of Aankho Dekhi, a pioneer program on crime reporting aired on Doordarshan news. Created ‘Ab Bas’, a film on international terrorism that was critically acclaimed by several Indian media houses and film festivals. Worked for different organizations and channels as a producer and executive producer like Doordarshan, ETV, and Lashkara. Several film festivals have commended Avinash’s docu-fiction film on Majaz Lakhnavi, legendary Urdu Poet, and Javed Akhter’s maternal uncle. Writes regularly for India’s leading newspapers. His column Teesra Pahlu in Rajasthan Patrika newspaper enjoys benchmark status in the Indian film and literature world. Directed the famous political talk show ‘Do Took’ for ETV, and worked as bureau chief of Aankho Dekhi, Doordarshan’s pioneer crime reporting program.
